Corte Madera spans the low bayside neighborhoods east of Highway 101 (the Marina Village and Mariner Cove areas) and the hillside Christmas Tree Hill area to the west.
Much of east Corte Madera is low-lying former marshland protected by levees and pump stations, and the town has long planned for flooding and sea-level rise. Hillside homes have the opposite problem: runoff and slope drainage.
